How to use Cortado when creating Zapier workflows

!!!CLOSED BETA!!! Zapier for Cortado is currently only available as a closed beta version. If you are interested in a test, please contact us by email (hello@cortado.com). Cortado is now available to you on Zapier, alongside many other applications! With Zapier, you can create automated workflows to simplify processes within your company.

Aim

In this how-to, we will show you how to use Cortado for creating automated workflows in Zapier.

Implementation

  • Log in to Zapier using your credentials.
  • Click on Create (top arrow in the image), then select Zaps (bottom arrow in the image) to create a new automated workflow.

create zap

A Zapier workflow consists of a trigger and one or more actions. A trigger is an event that occurs in a specific app and initiates a workflow, which then triggers an event in another app—one or more actions. For example, creating a new user in an HR or CRM system (trigger) could start a workflow that automatically creates a new user in the Cortado Administration Portal (action).

You can select Cortado either as a trigger or as an action. This means that a specific event in the Cortado Administration Portal can initiate a workflow (Cortado as a trigger), or an event in another application can start a process that triggers an action in the Cortado Administration Portal (Cortado as an action).

select trigger

Cortado as a trigger

These events can be selected as triggers, thereby initiating a workflow.

  • New Device: Initiates a workflow as soon as a new device is registered in the Cortado Administration Portal.
  • New Device Location: Initiates a workflow as soon as a new device location is retrieved. Please note that a new device location is only displayed when a device has been put into lost mode.
  • New Group: Initiates a workflow as soon as a new group is created in the Cortado Administration Portal.
  • New User: Initiates a workflow as soon as a new user is created in the Cortado Administration Portal.

Available trigger events

How to configure and test a Zap (workflow) in which Cortado functions as a trigger is explained in detail in our help article, How to receive a notification with Zapier when a new device is registered. This article demonstrates how the registration of a new device in Cortado (trigger) starts a workflow that sends an email to a designated recipient (action).

Cortado as an action

These events can be selected as an action and thus be a reaction to a trigger event.

  • Count Devices: Counts the devices in the administration portal as soon as a triggering event has taken place.
  • Create User: Creates a new user in the Cortado administration portal as soon as a triggering event has taken place.
  • Disable Lost Mode: Ends the loss mode of a device as soon as a triggering event has taken place.
  • Enable Lost Mode: Sets a device to loss mode as soon as a triggering event has occurred.
  • Lock Screen: Locks the screen of a device as soon as a triggering event has taken place.
  • Wipe Device: Resets a device to factory settings as soon as a triggering event has occurred.
  • Search Device: Retrieves device information (e.g. for trigger app Cortado with trigger event New Device).
  • Search User: Retrieves user information (e.g. for the Cortado trigger app with the New Device trigger event).

Available action events

How a Zap (workflow) in which Cortado acts as an action is configured and tested in detail is shown using an example in our help article How to add new users automatically in the administration portal with the help of Zapier. This shows how the creation of a user in an HR or CRM system (trigger) starts a workflow, as a result of which the user is automatically created in the Cortado administration portal (action).
