The Cortado app for iOS devices (Cortado MDM only)

Overview

Settings

Legal & Privacy

You can use the Cortado app to set up a workspace on your private iOS devices. Additionally, you will obtain an overview of all your Cortado MDM registered iOS, iPadOS, and macOS devices. We have provided a detailed description of how to use the Cortado app to create a workspace in the article Enroll private iOS devices (User Enrollment). Now, in this article, we show you how to maintain an overview of your devices. Users can manage the workspace themselves using the Cortado app.

After you have successfully set up a workspace or selected another device (see below), you will get an overview of the status of the administration with Cortado MDM. The traffic lights indicate if everything is in order or whether a problem has arisen.

Overview

  • If the traffic light displays green, then the work profile and the device are running correctly, and any existing policies have been implemented (left illus.).
  • If the traffic light displays yellow, the last time the device was updated was more than 48 hours ago (middle illus.).
  • If the traffic light displays red, a policy is unable to be enforced. In the example, an insufficiently strong password has been set (right illus.).

  • If necessary, change the password for the work profile or for the device.
  • Tap on Update now, to refresh the status message.

Business apps

You will get an overview here of business apps that have been provided for you by your company (left illus.). This is useful, particularly because private apps are not visibly distinguished from apps for business use (right arrow).

Your company can specify whether the installation of the business apps should be optional or mandatory. Mandatory apps will be installed automatically, provided you have approved the installation (left illus.).

So that your work apps are better distinguished form the private apps, we recommend creating a new folder (example in right illus.).

Apps designated for optional use (upper arrow in illus.) can be self-installed as desired. Simply tap on the Install button (lower arrow in illus.).

It may happen that your company wants to provide you with a mandatory app that you have already privately installed on your iOS device. In this case, the automatic installation will fail (arrow in left illus.) and the traffic light will switch to yellow (right illus.). Speak to your company about this problem.

Note! You cannot delete mandatory apps from the device again. Apps for optional use, on the other hand, can be deleted from the device again within the Cortado app.

Settings

Through the settings, you have access to all your managed iOS devices and you can view their status there.

Tap on My Devices (arrow in left illus.). As well as the device you are currently using (e.g. an iPhone), you will see your other devices (lower arrow in right illus.).

In the example, the user has a MacBook Air in addition to the iPhone. If this second device is now selected, you will find all available information on the second device here.
