Note! This option is available only for supervised iOS devices and fully managed Android devices.

Supervised iOS devices

  • In the Administration Portal select a device under Administration→ Devices (upper arrow in illus.).
  • Then click on Enable Lost Mode (lower arrow in illus.).

With Enable Lost Mode, the device can be located, even if the location service on the device itself may have been switched off. The device itself only needs to be switched on and a connection to the Apple server established via Wi-Fi or 3G.

  •  Enter a message and your telephone number.

  • You will receive a notification that Lost Mode has been activated on the device.
  • On the iOS device, the screen will now remain locked and the above entered message displayed (left illus.).
  • In this mode, the device can only be unlocked again via the Administration Portal.

  • As soon as the device registers with the server, you will receive another message. Confirm the message with OK.
  • The device location will then be displayed.
  • The date and time, when the device was last located are shown.

  • In addition, information about the location appears on the display of the device.

  • To search for the device location again, click on Request Device Location (upper arrow in illus.).
  • Using Disable Lost Mode deactivates lost mode again (lower arrow in illus.).
  • The last known location of the device can also be displayed after the end of the loss mode using the Show Last Location button.

Fully managed Android devices

  • In the Administration Portal select a device under Administration→ Devices (upper arrow in illus.).
  • Then click on Enable Lost Mode (lower arrow in illus.).

With Enable Lost Mode, the device can be located, even if the location service on the device itself may have been switched off.

  • Enter a message and your telephone number.
  • If the Android device being sought is not secured by a device PIN, then you have to enter a PIN here.

  • Thereupon, the screen on the Android device will be locked and the above-entered message displayed.
  • In this mode, the device can only be unlocked again via the Administration Portal.

  • As soon as the device registers with the server, you will receive another message. Confirm the message with OK.
  • The device location will then be displayed.
  • The date and time, when the device was last located are shown.

  • To search for the device location again, click on Request Device Location in the console (upper arrow in illus.).
  • Using Disable Lost Mode deactivates lost mode again (lower arrow in illus.).
  • The last known location of the device can also be displayed after the end of the loss mode using the Show Last Location button.

If using this button fails to switch off lost mode on a fully managed Android device, when there is no internet connection for instance, you can use a Recovery token to close down this mode (right arrow in illus.).

  • Tap the screen five times (left illus.).  Then enter the Recovery token (right illus.).

  • This will exit the lost mode.
